Apple IOS
All iPhone manufactured after 2017 are NFC enabled by default.
Devices such as iPhone X and previous models: You have to turn on the NFC from the quick access screen.
Devices manufactured after iPhone X models have NFC feature and is automatically enabled.
Devices manufactured before iPhone 6 doesn’t support NFC feature and you have to use the QR code instead.
Android
Android has been supporting NFC features since 2012 but depending on the brand type and manufacturer if they added the NFC feature or not as per below:
